LIFE SUCCESS: DON’T ALWAYS BELIEVE WHAT YOU THINK!

WISDOM QUOTES:

“We are the result of what we have thought.” The Buddha.

“Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously and never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop this picture.” Norman Vincent Peale

COGNITIVE THERAPY IMPROVES MOOD AND EMPOWERS DESIRES:

The quotes above speak to the power of your thoughts to determine your reality.

Did you know that your thoughts create your feelings? Cognitive psychotherapy is an approach which aims to change feelings, to reduce anxiety and depression, by changing thoughts. I teach clients myriad techniques to interrupt and redirect the thinking that is causing undesirable feelings.

My expertise in “thought control” began out of sheer desperation and necessity. In 1981, long before I had any notion of becoming a therapist/life-enhancement coach, I was offered an interview for a sales/consulting position with an educational publishing company. A friend of mine said he thought, with my experience as a teacher, I’d be perfect for the position.

“Who me?” My mind said I was limited, unprepared, not smart enough, not experienced…I was JUST  a 4th grade teacher! Long story short, I wanted the job so badly that I created a crash course in positive thinking. On the flight from JFK to LAX,  I replaced thoughts of unworthiness; I affirmed my strengths and assets; I visualized myself calmly confident in the interview; I practiced “fake it till you make it” and I “acted as if” I were the best candidate of all! I got the job and launched a fabulous new career because I trained my mind to believe it was possible.

My coaching clients often contact me, seeking my support for:

  • Achieving a desire: improving a relationship; starting a business; making a move; caregiving with ease
  • Gaining clarity and peace in TRANSITION: empty nest, turning 50, 60 and better; divorce; grieving loss; dating again; finding meaning in life; building community

First, I guide them in examining their beliefs, fears, blocks to advancing a desire. Their thoughts determine whether they achieve breakdown or breakthrough. As I assist them in replacing sabotaging thoughts with affirming, positive thoughts, they gain the courage and determination to succeed.

For today I offer you quotations that have helped my clients…  words to fill your mind with the kind of thinking that fuels inspiration, courage, and joy .

” Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead your astray.” – Rumi

“What I am seeking is also seeking me.” – Unknown

” Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your soul, the blueprints of your ultimate achievements.” – Napoleon Hill

“Self-kindness is joy under construction.” -Connie Clark
